Bring Back That Loving Feeling...The Theological Pillow Fight Continues

I can hear Andy Williams singing now..."It's the most wonderful time of the year..." Fall is in the air, and with it evidently comes a renewed and almost refreshing debate over cessationism and continuationism. It really is hard to believe that the previous debate took place almost a year ago! Nevertheless, the debate is back and I thought it well to try to do some blogspotting on it as I did last year...with intermittent comments, of course. This means introducing new bloggers to us all, new thoughts, new arguments, as well as all the old stuff rehashed again.

January 25 - Present, 2006

Mike Beasley: "Signs and Wonders: A Search for the Treasury of Christ's Gifts" Mike is a dear friend, one who sympathized with my trial which has been ongoing for the last two and a half years. You'll find the contents on this post, but you'll have to dig out the others in the series, something Mike should consider posting on his sidebar. The series is excellent and very typical for the keen exegetical mind Mike possesses. That is, of course, because of the seminary he attended which helped us both handle the Word of truth with humility and confidence.

Dan Phillips: "Red Herrings: Tongues of Angels" The article that picked the fight this time. Yes, I think that's the pyro himself in the pic to the left, posing for a good shot for the camera and for the fellow behind him.

Thanks for the link, Rob. I missed last year's "storm", but I'm excited to pitch in this time... :-)

Rob, on my blog I posted 3-5 posts (Birth of the Church) dealing with John MacAthur's treatment of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost in his book, Charismatic Chaos. In my posts I demonstrate that he erred regarding John 20:22 and, consequently, the baptism as a second definite experience. (They are too long to post to any comment).

Thanks for your kind words Rob and your helpful advice too (I do need to index some of these series).

I also share your gratitude for the training that we received at TMS - the Lord's provisions are good.

You're friend in Christ

How do you find the time?

I've wanted to join in the fray, but I haven't really seen any progress in the terms of the debate. Not sure what I could possibly add, so I my silence on continuationism continues.

But it's fun to follow the blogspotting.

Rich.
