Has the Gospel Truly Affected the
Southern Baptist Convention?

Recently, a friend of mine, Jim Elliff, founder and director of Communicators for Christ Worldwide, posted an article to his website entitled, "The Southern Baptist Convention - An Unregenerate Denomination" about the Southern Baptist Convention's membership problem. It addresses a long-known problem in this convention (to which my own church currently belongs), as well as presumably other denominations, of persons who have been supposedly converted, yet later are no where to be found.

Why does this happen so often? And more importantly, why does it continue to happen? If we know it is a problem, why do we continue to roll out programs and campaigns (like the recent "Win One Million" evangelistic crusade - read about it here, and also here) that just exacerbate the problem? Jim answers the first question in his article, and I hope he'll answer the second one perhpas one day soon.
