The Forgiveness of Sin, and Taking Sin Seriously

If God:

  • Promises in Isaiah 38:17 to put all our sins behind His back...
  • Promises in Isaiaih 43:25 to never remember my sins again...
  • Says in hebrews 8:12 that He would forgive my iniquities, wickedness, and remember my sin no more...
  • Says it again in Hebrews 10:17,18...
  • States that He has hurled all my sins into the depths of the sea, in Micah 7:19...
  • And casts my sin away as far as the east is from the west, according to Psalm 103:12...

Then...

Willful sinning is the terribly presumptuous act of going behind God's back and dragging them from the depths of the sea in order to enjoy that which He has purposefully forgotten through forgiveness.

Seen in this light, I see just how much more sinful sin really is! It flaunts before God the very thing He gave His Son to die for, forgive, and forget. It is trampling under foot the blood of the Son of God. May we take our sin seriously in this kind of light.
